the history of the awards ...
The J.A.M. Awards are unique, as they are the first awards in the hip-hop community to recognize social responsibility. The awards will honor the late Jam Master Jay's life and legacy and his efforts to promote social Justice, Arts, and Music ("J.A.M.") in his local community and around the world. The event, hosted by Jay's wife Terri Corley-Mizell and DMC. Every year an honoree from the world of hip hop will be selected from the fields of social Justice, one from the Arts and one from Music. They will be selected based on their record of helping others.

back in the city, we venture to Joes Pub for a night of raggae ..unfortunately I never caught the name of the group ...
