Anthem Magazine Presents Whistling Past the Graveyard Hosted By Jason Lee
Join Anthem Magazine and WESC as we present Whistling Past the Graveyard featuring new works by Mercedes Helnwein and hosted by Jason Lee at the Merry Karnowski Gallery.
Helnwein's drawings have been described as "photo-realistic," "lucid fairy-tales," "strikingly bizarre," "haunting," "southern Gothic," "evocative" and "unexpected." Her self-portraits have been compared to Cindy Sherman and her sense of quiet drama to Alfred Hitchcock and Edgar Allen Poe.
Also included in the exhibition is a video projection, in which the formerly frozen characters jerk to life for the first time in thick saturated colors.
If you miss the opening with us, make sure to still catch the show. It will run from August 30 - September 20
